How the Wellbeing Score Calculator Works
This calculator assesses wellbeing across five dimensions that research consistently identifies as central to a flourishing life. Each dimension contains four questions rated 1–5, producing a dimension score of 4–20. All five dimension scores sum to a total of 20–100, which is then normalised to 0–100.
The Five Dimensions
Emotional health covers mood, anxiety levels, and the ability to manage difficult feelings. Physical health covers energy, sleep quality, and physical activity. Social connection assesses the depth and frequency of meaningful relationships. Purpose measures whether daily activities feel meaningful and aligned with personal values. Resilience examines how well you bounce back from setbacks and manage uncertainty.
How to Read Your Score
| Score | Level | Guidance |
|---|---|---|
| 85–100 | Excellent | Strong wellbeing across all dimensions — maintain your habits |
| 70–84 | Good | Good overall wellbeing — look for the one dimension scoring lowest |
| 50–69 | Moderate | Several dimensions need attention — prioritise the lowest two |
| 30–49 | Low | Significant wellbeing gaps — consider speaking with a professional |
| 0–29 | Very Low | Please speak with a healthcare professional or mental health provider |
Using Your Dimension Breakdown
The most useful insight isn't the total score — it's which dimensions are lowest. A score of 65 driven by low purpose and poor sleep calls for entirely different interventions than a 65 driven by social isolation. Focus your first efforts on the one or two dimensions scoring below 12 out of 20.
